Why 42?
The number 42 has a deep importance to us. The number 42 is one that, in the right context, is historical and awe-inspiring. The number 42 is retired by EVERY MLB baseball team. The only number that carries this honor. Why?
Jackie Robinson.
The groundbreaking African American baseball player who made history by breaking Major League Baseball's color barrier in 1947. As the first black athlete to play in the MLB, Robinson's courage and perseverance in the face of racial prejudice paved the way for future generations. Beyond his on-field prowess, Robinson became an important civil rights advocate, using his platform to challenge segregation and promote equality. Today, Jackie Robinson remains an enduring symbol of resilience, inspiring countless people to break barriers in their own lives.
We have a great reverence for Jackie Robinson the man and the symbol. We strive to carry his legacy in the work we do, as strange as that might sound. Using Jackie as a model, our goal is to use his life and example as a model of how our work should be.
Of those characteristics, we promise to always attempt to follow suit by being, amongst other traits, courageous, transformative, inspirational, trailblazing, determined and continually pushing the barriers that hold us back.
We promise to always be a respectful steward of his name,
